KANO  – Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, the Vice Chancellor,  Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil, on Wednesday praised the Visitor of the University, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for allocating 31 pec cent of the state 2025 budget to the education sector.
Prof. Yakasai in a signed statement issued by Malam Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi, Deputy Registrar Information and Public Relations described the allocation as unique in the history of the country.
The vice Chancellor said “This is unique as it never happened in the history of Nigeria. Moreso, it even surpassed the UNESCO 25 per cent requirement to be allocated to the sector by countries across the world”.
He also commended the education policy of Gov.Yusuf especially for declaring state of emergency in the sector, and urged all stakeholders to support the initiative with a view to achieving the desired objective.
Similarly, the vice chancellor lauded the governor’s recent approval for the completion of Dangote Hostel of the institution that was gutted by fire, as contractors had already moblized back to site.
“More significantly, we commend him for his approval for the settlement of allowances especially earned allowances owed members of staff of the University, release of funds for NUC accreditation exercise and subsequent approval for the construction of drainages on the campus,” he said.
He, however, appealed to the governor to allocate “any available facility” within Kano to the university to serve as its City Campus.
Yakasai also appealed to the governor to direct for the release of the remaining claims and allowances owed the university’s staff.
