Rivers State Council Poll Holds Amid Police Withdrawal

Port Harcourt – (Rivers state- Nigeria) Police operatives on Saturday kept a distance from polling centers across Rivers state in compliance with the Inspector General of Police’s directives.
The directives by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered police operatives to maintained a strategic distance from polling centers, and positioning themselves at nearby locations.
Despite initial concerns, reports from the hotbed of Nigeria politics indicated that the local council elections proceeded peacefully.
Eligible voters were seen to have flocked several polling units to exercise their franchise across the state as at mid day.
