KANO — Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, and Senator Tunde Ogbeha have urged former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, to continue making his experience and wisdom available to Nigeria’s leadership as he marks his 85th birthday.

The two former military officers, who served under Babangida, described him as a great nationalist whose contributions to Nigeria’s political and socio-economic development remain significant.

In separate goodwill messages, Mark, who is the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Ogbeha commended the former military president for his years of service to the country and urged him to remain a source of guidance and counsel to the nation.

Mark said Babangida’s long career in the service of Nigeria represented an important chapter in the country’s history, marked by courage, resilience and commitment to national development.

“Your remarkable journey in the service of Nigeria, marked by courage, resilience and an enduring commitment to the nation, remains a significant chapter in our country’s history,” Mark said.

He added that Babangida’s contributions to national development deserved continued recognition, while praying for his good health, wisdom and many more years of peace and fulfilment.

“I remain deeply grateful for your leadership, guidance and enduring example of service to our great nation,” Ogbeha said.

They prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the former military president continued good health, strength and wisdom, while wishing him many more years of peace and fulfilment.
