Nakudu Shrugs Off Disqualification Petition, Says Opponents Are Playing Politics

KANO — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Jigawa State, Senator Muhammad Sabo Nakudu, on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking his replacement.
He described latest effort as a politically motivated attempt by opponents to undermine his candidacy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sabo Nakudu’s reaction came on the heels of a petition submitted to the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, by two self styled ADC members from Gwaram Local Government Area, who urged the party leadership to replace him over allegations linked to an Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) report on constituency projects.
The petitioners had alleged that Nakudu was indicted in the ICPC’s Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Initiative (CEPTI) report and warned that retaining him as the ADC governorship candidate could jeopardise the party’s chances in the 2027 governorship election.
In an Exclusive chat with with finenewsng.com, Nakudu said he was never tried let alone indictment by anti corruption agency.
The former senator, who represented Jigawa South-West from 2015 to 2023, denied having any pending case with the anti-graft agency, insisting that the matter cited by the petitioners had been resolved.
“I have no case with ICPC. The latest action by certain opposition elements within the ADC was born out of mischief, when the issue came up, I visited the ICPC office and the allegations was resolved, ” Nakudu said.
He maintained that the petition relied on old newspaper reports rather than the actual facts, urging members of the public to verify his claims with the ICPC.
“The facts are there with the ICPC for anyone to verify. Bringing up the issue now is political mischief that will not fly. I want to call for calm among our teeming supporters. I have no skeleton in my cupboard, and they have nothing to fear,” he added.
