By the Newsroom
KANO  – The Association of Hajj Media Support Professionals (AHMSP), on Wednesday flayed what it called unverified reports that targeted the office of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman.
A signed statement by Ibrahim Abubakar, the Chairman Association of Hajj Media Support Professionals (AHMSP) that was made available to Reporters, emphasized the importance of accuracy, fairness, and responsible journalism in reporting on matters related to the Hajj and Umrah operations.
Ibrahim Abubakar explained that “Upon review, the report in question contains unverified claims and misrepresentations that do not reflect the full context of NAHCON’s operations or the actions of its Chairman.”
The signed statement by Ibrahim Abubakar on behalf of the media group reads in part: “Professor Sale has consistently acted within the statutory mandate of NAHCON, ensuring that all administrative and operational decisions including staff deployment and fare adjustments are conducted in accordance with relevant regulations and due administrative process. Allegations of misconduct or insubordination referenced in the publication cannot be substantiated with verifiable evidence.”
“AHMSP further notes that individual opinions expressed by members of the public on social media should not be attributed to NAHCON leadership unless officially confirmed. “
“The Chairman has not authorized or directed any public commentary aimed at public officials, and reports suggesting otherwise are misleading.”
“Regarding ongoing inquiries by regulatory or anti-corruption agencies, Professor Pakistan has cooperated fully with all requests for information and documentation, in accordance with legal and procedural requirements. There are currently no formal charges against him.”
“The Association encourages the public, civil society, and media stakeholders to rely on verified and accurate information when forming opinions on NAHCON’s leadership and activities. “
The Association therefore urged media houses, civil society, and the public to exercise caution and discernment, distinguishing between verified facts and speculative or politically motivated reporting.
The Media Group further reaffirmed its support for ethical, transparent, and responsible media coverage of Hajj and Umrah matters and calls for fair representation of individuals serving in official capacities.
