KANO – In an apparent display of street-level popularity, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, on Thursday visited Singa Market in Kano, testing his influence among local youths and traders.
The visit, which came as a sympathy trip to victims of a recent fire at the market, drew hundreds of youths who massed around his motorcade along Bello Road.
Supporters chanted slogans in his favor, with many shouting, “Kano sai Kwankwaso,” signaling strong grassroots support.
Upon arriving at the scene, Kwankwaso stepped out of his SUV and approached the crowd, energetically responding to the youths’ cheers.
Beaming with smiles, and visibly charged by the enthusiasm of the supporters around him, Kwankwaso raised his hand in a victory sign.
The unexpected congregation of youths around his convoy temporarily disrupted activities in Kano Central’s business district.
Vehicular movement along key roads experienced significant delays as the crowd blocked streets to catch a glimpse of the former governor.
Dressed in his signature traditional white flowing gown and matching red cap, Kwankwaso’s street appearance reinforced his image as a leader connected to the masses.
Many traders and residents who had gathered at Singa Market expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a show of solidarity with those affected by the market inferno.
Finenewsng.com reports that the street show on Thursday, came shortly after another massive crowd had earlier stormed his residence on Millar Road in Kano, demonstrating the sustained enthusiasm of his supporters in the city.
