Kano Varsity Staff Applaud Yusuf Over New Salary Structure

KANO — Staff of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, have expressed appreciation to Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, following the approval of a new salary structure for the university’s academic and non-teaching personnel.
The new remuneration package is aligned with the salary structure recently approved by the Federal Government for staff of federal universities across the country.
In a statement issued on Monday by Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi, Head of the University’s Information and Public Affairs Unit, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, said the approval had been received by members of the university community with “great joy and appreciation.”
Prof. Yakasai described the intervention as a demonstration of Governor Yusuf’s commitment to workers’ welfare and the advancement of education in Kano State.
Yakasai stressed that improved remuneration would strengthen staff morale and encourage greater dedication, productivity and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He noted that the salary review came at a critical period when universities were grappling with rising living costs and the challenge of retaining highly qualified academic and non-academic personnel.
The Vice Chancellor further expressed appreciation on behalf of the Governing Council, Management and staff of ADUSTECH, describing the Governor’s decision as a “timely and people-oriented intervention.”
Yakasai assured the Governor that the university community would reciprocate the gesture through renewed commitment to teaching, research, innovation and community service.
He also pledged that the university management would ensure effective implementation of the approved salary structure in line with relevant government directives.
The Vice Chancellor urged members of staff to support the administration’s efforts to position ADUSTECH among Nigeria’s leading institutions in science, technology and innovation.
The new salary structure is expected to take effect from September 2026, while arrears covering January to August 2026 are to be provided for under the 2027 State Budget.
The State Executive Council had earlier approved a total of ₦228,195,210.83 for the implementation of the salary review, comprising ₦141,082,223.37 for academic staff under the ASUU agreement and ₦87,112,987.46 for non-academic staff under the SSANU agreement.
