Kano To Bridge Housing Deficit with 1800 Low-Cost Estates

KANO  – Kano State Government on Sunday unveiled plans to address its housing deficit by constructing 1800 low-cost housing estates across 36 councils.
Under the initiative, 50 low- cost estates would be constructed in each of the 36 local government outside Kano metropolis to provide affordable housing for low- and middle-income earners.
Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, who briefed newsmen on the outcome of the 33 executive council meeting,  said ‎the initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to bridge the housing deficit.
He explained that the proactive measures by Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration would future  promote inclusive development, and enhance the standard of living for citizens in every part of the state.
Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya said the project was designed to stimulate local economies through massive job creation for artisans, engineers, and contractors.
He stated that the project on completion would
‎also provide decent and affordable accommodation for families in both urban and rural communities, ensuring access to basic social amenities.
Waiya revealed that the housing estates would be equipped with essential infrastructure such as access roads, electricity, and water supply to guarantee sustainability and comfort for residents.

‎He said “This initiative reflects Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to equitable development and his vision of ensuring that every part of the state benefits from sustainable infrastructure”.
