Kano Anti-Graft Agency Detains Gov Yusuf’s Aide, LG Officials Over N105M Scandal

Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission have taken into custody a Senior Special Assistant to governor Yusuf, Mustapha Maifada, the Director of Personnel Management, Treasurer, Cashier of Nasarawa Local Government Council over alleged diversion of N105m.
The top of the Council were accused of issuing a cheque of N105m to the governor’s aide since November 2024.
Sources familiar with the high profile scandal told Daily INDEPENDENT that the three council staff were under directed to give N105,000 to the Senior Special Assistant for a program.
However, the Anti-graft Agency acting on credible information from a dragnet set up to monitor local government finances has quizzed the officials for their roles into the alleged diversion of funds.
Daily INDEPENDENT learned that during interrogation, the detained council staff claimed the payment was a “mistake” and a situation that the antigraft agency refused to accept considering that the alleged crime was committed in November and other information at its disposal.
‘’Suspecting that probably the arrangement between is not working the detained council staff just quickly reported the matter to the police, ‘’the source told this paper.
The source noted that in the course of an investigation, it was discovered that Mustapha Maifada has bought properties with the money.
‘’Investigation is still ongoing and they may be prosecuted after the conclusion of investigation.’’
Consequently, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, the chairman, the antigraft commission failed to respond to several calls to his known GSM lines.
Similarly, the spokesman of the commission, Kabir Abba’s phone was not attended to.
