KANO —- A Chief Imam and proprietor of a private school in Abuja (name withheld) has landed behind bars after a shocking WhatsApp scandal involving a married woman.
The Kano Sharia Court sitting at Kofar Kudu that was presided over by Judge Ustaz Ibrahim Sarki Yola sentenced the cleric to one month imprisonment without the option of fine after he admitted sending nude pictures of himself to the woman through WhatsApp.
The scandal reportedly came to light after the woman’s husband petitioned the police, accusing the imam of persistently chasing his wife for nearly one year despite knowing she was married.
According to First Information Report, the cleric repeatedly flooded the woman’s WhatsApp with explicit images and romantic pleas, insisting he did not believe she was truly married.
He allegedly continued pressuring her to accept his advances even after she repeatedly warned him to stay away.
The courtroom fell silent as the charges were read to the accused, who openly confessed to the offence and begged the court for mercy.
But the judge refused to spare him, delivering a stern ruling that sent the imam straight to prison for one month with no option of fine.
