Iftar Relief Brings Hope to Vulnerable Families in Kano

By the Newsroom

KANO – Vulnerable families across Kano State have expressed renewed hope following the ongoing distribution of Iftar meals and food items during the holy month of Ramadan.

The initiative, targeted at those most in need, is providing daily relief to households struggling to meet basic needs.

The Ramadan support program, coordinated by a state-appointed committee, was introduced to ensure that food assistance reaches disadvantaged groups, including students, widows, the elderly, and low-income families.

The committee overseeing the exercise operates under the directive of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who has emphasized ‘fairness and accountability in the distribution process.’

Officials say monitoring teams have been deployed to various centers to ensure transparency and orderliness.

In several communities, particularly within Kano
Municipal, beneficiaries described the intervention as timely and impactful.

Many families noted that the support has helped them break their fast with dignity, reducing the stress associated with providing daily Iftar meals.

At distribution centers, the process has been described as organized and inclusive.

Volunteers and officials worked together to maintain calm and ensure that aid was delivered to verified beneficiaries without disruption.

Community leaders have also welcomed the initiative, stating that it reflects the spirit of compassion and generosity associated with Ramadan.

They noted that beyond material assistance, the program strengthens trust between citizens and the government. Some beneficiaries said the program has restored a ‘sense of belonging’
