Hanga: Kwankwaso, Allies May Dump ADC if Leadership Crisis Persists

KANO —- Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga, representing Kano Central, has warned that Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his political allies may exit the African Demo0lcratic Congress (ADC) if the party’s lingering leadership crisis is not resolved.
Hanga made the disclosure while speaking with journalists at his office in the National Assembly, Abuja, stressing that uncertainty within the party could jeopardize its chances of becoming a credible force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the lawmaker, the faction he belongs to is closely monitoring ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the party’s leadership, particularly the dispute involving former Senate President David Mark.
He noted that the outcome of the court case would be decisive, adding that failure to affirm the leadership structure they recognize could compel them to reconsider their continued membership in the ADC.
“We are committed to building a strong political platform, but that must be anchored on clarity and legitimacy of leadership,” Hanga said, emphasizing that unresolved disputes weaken party cohesion.
The senator explained that their broader objective remains to strengthen the opposition and provide Nigerians with a viable alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election cycle.
Hanga further revealed that discussions are ongoing within opposition circles, including proposals for strategic alliances such as a possible joint ticket involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso under the ADC platform.
He, however, cautioned that such political calculations could be disrupted if the ADC fails to resolve its internal crisis, warning that a stable and united platform is essential for any meaningful electoral challenge in 2027.
