CELEBRATING CP BAKORI’S 30 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE NATION

Yesterday, 15th August 2026, marked the 30th anniversary of the appointment of CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS, Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, into the Nigeria Police Force on 15th August 1996.
For three decades, CP Bakori has served with dedication, professionalism and integrity. His career reflects steady progression anchored on competence, discipline and results-driven leadership.
In the course of his policing career, he has served in various operational, administrative and investigative capacities across the country. He has also traversed all the six Geo-Political Zones of Nigeria. In furtherance of professional development and international best practices, CP Bakori has undertaken official engagements in 25 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa and the United Arab Emirates. These exposures have broadened his understanding of global policing strategies and their adaptation to local contexts.
An accomplished scholar, CP Bakori is a holder of a PhD and two Master’s degrees in Peace, Conflict and Strategic Studies, and Public Administration. This strong academic background, combined with extensive operational experience, has positioned him as a leading voice in security management, conflict resolution and public governance.
Since assuming office as the 47th Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command on 17th March 2025, CP Bakori has provided purposeful leadership. Under his command, the Kano State Police Command has institutionalized intelligence-led policing, strengthened the Community Policing Initiative, and enhanced synergy with sister security agencies. These strategies have recorded significant gains in the prevention and control of violent crime, thuggery, cybercrime and other threats to public peace and safety.
Acknowledging that security is fundamental to development, his administration has ensured a secure environment for commerce, education, and the growth of the Orange Economy in Kano, encompassing Kannywood, fashion, music, crafts and digital enterprise.
CP Bakori is a consummate professional and Fellow/Member of several bodies: *SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS.* He exemplifies the modern police officer through the integration of academic depth, operational experience, and a commitment to respect for human rights, officer welfare, and accountability, in alignment with the policing reform agenda of the *Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM*.
