KANO — A State High Court sitting in Kano on Tuesday nullified the election of the Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area, Abdullahi Ghali Basaf.

The court subsequently declared Ali Musa Hardworker as the duly elected winner of the chairmanship poll.

The presiding judge, Abdu Mai Wada Abubakar of State High Court No. 17, upheld the nullification of Basaf’s victory in his ruling.

In the judgment, the court affirmed that Hardworker emerged as the lawful winner of the election conducted in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

Details of the case, including the grounds upon which the initial victory was challenged, were not immediately available as of the time of filing this report.

The development is expected to trigger political reactions across Kumbotso, a key local government area in Kano State.

Efforts to reach the affected parties for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.

However, it remains unclear whether the ousted chairman will challenge the judgment at a higher court.

More details to follow.
