Banditry: Kogi Govt Seals Gas Station, Seize Truck Linked To Fueling Bandit Operations

KANO  – Authorities in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have shut down a NIPCO fuel station and seized a truck equipped with a large storage tank over allegations of supplying fuel to bandits operating in nearby forests.
The operation, carried out by the LGA security team in collaboration with NSCDC operatives, followed months of intelligence monitoring.
Officials say the truck had repeatedly purchased unusually large quantities of fuel before heading towards known criminal hideouts in Kiri Forest, Kabba/Bunu, and routes extending toward Niger State.
Executive Chairman Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael ordered the immediate closure of the station for violating an existing ban on selling fuel in jerrycans, drums, and oversized tanks a measure imposed to cut off logistics support to criminal groups.
“Anyone aiding criminals by supplying fuel will be treated as an enemy of the people. We will not relent until our communities are safe,” the Chairman stated.
The suspects, the truck, and the seized fuel are now in custody as investigations continue. Officials warn that all involved will face full legal consequences.
The LGA reaffirmed its stance: No safe haven and no fuel lifeline for criminals.
