Alleged Assault : Rights Group Seeks Investigations Of Kano ALGON Chairperson
By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul
KANO-  The Human Rights Network (HRN) Nigeria has petitioned the police, seeking a thorough investigation into allegations that Tudunwada Local Government Chairperson, Sa’adatu Salisu Yushau, allegedly  organized thuggish attacks on innocent citizens.
The petition, with reference number HRN/NPC/GEN/V.V192, was addressed to the Kano Command Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ibrahim Bakori.
The Group urged the security agency to quickly initiate a thorough investigation into the Chairperson’s alleged nefarious activities.
According to the petition, signed by Comrade A.A. Haruna Ayagi, Country Director of HRN, Mallam Suwidi Umar, a resident of Kofar Yamma Unguwar Rariya Quarters, Tudunwada Local Government, complained that Sa’adatu Salisu Yushau, in her capacity as Chairperson, allegedly led armed thugs and political hooligans wielding dangerous arms to attack him and his workers on August 29, 2025.
The petition reads in parts: “Sa’adatu Salisu Yushau, using her capacity as Chairperson, led some dangerous thugs and political hooligans wielding dangerous arms to attack us and my workmen and apprentices at my workplace at Kofar Gari, thereby causing us serious injuries and destruction of our properties worth millions of Naira.”
The petitioner alleged that the Chairperson was trying to force them to vacate the premises, which had been allocated to them by the local government in 1999.
The Human Rights Network stated that the Chairperson’s actions had caused Suwidi Umar and his workers suffering and untold hardship, which needed to be addressed by the police.
The HRN demanded a thorough investigation and prosecution into the matter to prevent further assaults and seek justice for the aggrieved persons.
After submitting the petition to the State Police Commissioner, the Chairman of the International Human Rights Commission, Nigeria office, Comrade Idi Haruna Ali, said they had visited the scene of the attacks and gathered enough information, including eyewitness accounts and evidence of the victims’ injuries.
He added that some of the victims sustained gunshot injuries, while others were attacked with local weapons, and their properties were destroyed.
