PCRC Honours Doguwa for Championing Fight Against Insecurity

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has honoured the member representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, with the title of Grand Patron in recognition of what it described as his unwavering commitment to combating insecurity and supporting security agencies across Nigeria.

The honour was conferred during a meeting between the national leadership of the PCRC and the lawmaker in Kano, where both parties deliberated on the prevailing security challenges in the North and the country at large.

Presenting the honour, the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Ibrahim Mogaji Olaniyan, represented by the committee’s National Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Sadiq Wada, said Doguwa had consistently distinguished himself through bold advocacy against insecurity on the floor of the House of Representatives.

“You have always spoken fearlessly on the security challenges confronting the nation, even when others chose to remain silent. Your courage and commitment to national peace inspired this recognition,” Wada said.

He added that the committee had closely monitored Doguwa’s contributions over the years, particularly his efforts to strengthen security architecture in Kano State and the North.

According to him, the lawmaker played a significant role in facilitating the establishment of a military formation in the Falgore Forest area, which was once notorious for bandit activities but has since witnessed improved security.

Wada also credited Doguwa with providing vehicles and other security equipment to law enforcement agencies, describing the interventions as instrumental in supporting efforts to restore peace in parts of Kano.

Speaking at the event, Senator Masaud Jibrin Eldoguwa said communities in Doguwa and Tudun Wada Local Government Areas had experienced remarkable improvements in security following the deployment of military personnel to the Falgore axis.

He argued that Doguwa’s persistent advocacy at the National Assembly had earned him recognition as one of the leading voices on national security issues.

Responding, Doguwa dedicated the honour to members of the PCRC, whom he praised for volunteering their time and risking their lives to support policing without salaries or allowances.

He urged public office holders to speak frankly on security matters, stressing that confronting insecurity requires courage, honesty and collective responsibility.

The lawmaker also commended Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for sustaining and strengthening the state’s security framework, saying the administration had continued to build on existing security strategies to enhance public safety.
