Ganduje Denies Defection Rumors, Threatens Legal Action Over Fake Posters

KANO — Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Friday dismissed as false reports claiming he had defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC).

described the circulation of posters portraying him as a member of the opposition party as a calculated act of political mischief.
Dr.Abdullahi Umar explained that the posters making the rounds on social media were designed to mislead the public, create confusion among APC supporters and fuel unnecessary political speculation.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Friday by his Chief of Staff and former Kano State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba.
According to the statement, Ganduje remains a committed member of the APC and has never contemplated leaving the ruling party, which he previously served as National Chairman.
“Dr. Ganduje has remained consistent in his political convictions and has never contemplated leaving the APC, a party he served as its National Chairman,” the statement said.
The former APC chairman described the claim that he had joined the NDC as not only false but also lacking any political or logical basis.
He maintained that the APC remains Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political party, adding that it continues to gain wider acceptance across the country under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ganduje said the fake posters were the handiwork of desperate political mischief makers intent on tarnishing his reputation and creating unnecessary anxiety within the ruling party.
He disclosed that those behind the production and circulation of the posters had been identified and warned that legal action would be taken against them if they failed to immediately withdraw the materials and stop further dissemination.
“Those responsible for producing and circulating the fake posters have been identified. Unless they immediately withdraw the defamatory materials and cease further dissemination, appropriate legal action will be taken against them,” the statement added.
The former Kano governor urged APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard the posters, insisting they do not represent his political position or future intentions.
Ganduje also reaffirmed his commitment to working with President Tinubu and the leadership of the APC to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen the party ahead of future political engagements.
He further appealed to the public to rely only on official communications from him and the appropriate organs of the APC regarding his political activities, warning against misinformation circulated through unofficial channels.
