PRP Accuses Kwankwaso of Hijacking Party Tickets, Threatens Legal Action

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The Northwest Stakeholders Forum of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), on Sunday accused former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of attempting to hijack the party’s nomination process ahead of the next elections.

Addressing a press conference in Kano on Sunday, the forum alleged that nomination forms for all 69 elective positions under the PRP had been purchased by a single individual who is not a member of the party.

The forum’s chairman, Abdulkadir Musa Giza, described the development as a threat to internal democracy and the rights of genuine party members seeking elective offices.

“It has been confirmed that nomination forms for all 69 elective positions under the platform of the PRP have been purchased by one individual who is not even a member of our party,” Giza said.

He further alleged that similar actions had occurred in other political parties and expressed concern over reports linking Kwankwaso to the exercise.

“We are particularly disturbed by reports linking Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to this exercise. We wonder why Senator Kwankwaso would seek to have the nomination tickets of several political parties under his control,” he said.

According to him, allowing such actions to continue would amount to “political deception” and an attempt to undermine the democratic rights of party members.

“This is nothing short of political robbery. It threatens internal party democracy and has the potential to create confusion, disputes and disorder in the electoral process,” Giza added.

The PRP stakeholders called on Kwankwaso to allow political parties to operate independently, insisting that the party should be spared what they described as interference in its internal affairs.

The group maintained that it has credible members interested in contesting elections and warned that legal action could be pursued if the alleged interference persists.

“Should this interference continue, legal action will be our only option in defending the integrity and independence of our party,” Giza said.
