Three Feared Dead as Lemon Truck Crashes Into Parked Trailer in Kano

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO —- At least three people are feared dead after a truck carrying lemons crashed into a parked trailer in Imawa town, Kura Local Government Area of Kano State.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Monday, when the driver of the lemon truck reportedly lost control and rammed into a trailer that had been parked by the roadside after developing a mechanical fault.

An eyewitness, Zailani Umar Imawa, said residents were nearby when the incident happened.

Umar Imawa said they quickly rushed to the scene after the crash and found three occupants of the lemon truck in critical condition.

“We were sitting when we saw the lemon truck crash into the trailer. When we got to the scene, we saw that the three people inside the truck were seriously injured,” he said.

The victims were later taken to a hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). However, they were confirmed dead after arrival at the medical facility.

The eyewitness added that two of the victims were unable to move their bodies after the crash, while another was calling for help before they were taken away for treatment.

As of the time of filing this report, the identities of the victims and those responsible for the lemon truck had not yet been confirmed.

In the meantime, the Federal Road Safety Corp in Kano is yet to issue statement on the incident.
