Hisbah Blocks LGBT+ Marriage, Detains Dozens of Suspects in Kano
By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul
KANO  – Hisbah operatives acting on a tip-off weekend stormed an event center located at Hotoro Bypass in Kano metropolis, thwarted sex marriage, and arrested no fewer than 25 suspects.
The suspects known in local parlance as ‘yan daudu’ had arrived from Sheka, Yar Gaya, and Kofar Nasarawa to celebrate the illegal union when the Operatives swooped on the assembly.
The Deputy Commander General (Special Operations), Sheikh Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen Abubakar, while confirming the breakthrough revealed that the suspects includes 18 men, 7 women.
Sheikh Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen Abubakar said
‘one Abubakar Idris was allegedly planning to tie the knot with another young man’ at the scene of the illegal assembly, adding that his men discovered that ‘a party was in progress under dim lighting conditions’ at the of arrest.
Sheikh Aminuddeen Abubakar described the atmosphere of the illegal assembly of young men and women who had gathered at the event centre for celebration as offensive to Islamic values.
He disclosed that ‘all suspects are currently in Hisbah custody, and will be charged to court after investigations are completed.’
The deputy commander, therefore appealed to parents and guardians to instill sound moral values in their children and urged the public to report suspicious activities to Hisbah or other relevant authorities.
Dr. Mujahid reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring a morally upright society and maintaining Kano State’s reputation as a community guided by discipline and Islamic principles.
