KANO —-Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, the Senior Special Assistant on the Print Media to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday issued a strong public warning against social media attempts to compare his performance with that of other government officials of Kano origin.
Abdulaziz disclaimer written in Hausa language that was published in his verified Facebook page, explained that such comparisons could fuel unnecessary division.
Mr. Abdulaziz’s response comes amid broader discussions in Kano based online spaces about accountability, performance in comparison with other presidential appointees from Kano.
Mr. Abdulaziz’s clarification seeks to redirect attention away from personal comparisons and back to issues of governance and collective progress, stressing that his loyalty remains with the administration and its broader agenda, not personal aggrandisement
In the detailed message, Mr. Abdulaziz said he noticed “writings by certain people comparing me with some individuals who are currently in government or those who have passed on,” and expressed concern about the implications of such comparisons.
Abdulaziz said he believes the intentions behind the posts may be good, but appealed to Nigerians to desist from creating or spreading them to “avoid causing division or conflict.”
“I am not in competition with anyone, and I have never done anything so that it would be said that I am better than so‑and‑so,” Mr. Abdulaziz said in the disclaimer, dismissing the suggestion that his actions were aimed at self‑promotion.
He added that his work for the presidency was rooted in service and not designed for social media praise or public glorification.
The presidential media aide emphasised that his efforts are driven by a commitment to communal harmony, peaceful coexistence and a duty to contribute to national development “for the sake of Allah,” rather than personal accolades.
He said he has never encouraged others to publicise actions taken on his behalf, nor asked for recognition.
Mr. Abdulaziz therefore urged citizens and content creators to “focus on service, not competition,” a call that aligns with official narratives prioritising unity and national cohesion under Mr. Tinubu’s leadership.
