2027: Bature Again Misses Out on Reps Ticket

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO —Sunusi Bature has once again missed out on securing a ticket to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Dawakin Tofa, Tofa, and Rimin Gado Federal Constituency, amid reports of internal party decisions shaping the outcome.

Sources within the political circle in Kano said the development has stirred conversations about the dynamics of candidate selection and influence within the state’s ruling structure.

Although there has been no official statement confirming the circumstances surrounding the denial, insiders allege that the decision may not be unconnected with the position of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, under whose administration Bature currently serves as Director of Media and Publicity.

A party source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, noted that “there were several interests at play,” adding that the ticket was ultimately considered in line with broader political calculations in the constituency.

This marks the third time Bature has failed to secure an elective ticket across different political platforms, raising questions about his political trajectory despite his visibility in government.

Bature’s repeated setbacks could point to challenges in grassroots support or internal party acceptance, even as he remains a prominent figure within the administration.

Speaking on the development, on his verified Facebook page, Mr. Bature Dawakin Tofa said he had since accepted it as an act of God.

Mr. Dawakin Tofa wrote “By the will of Allah, we are among those who did not secure the ticket. It is part of our destiny, and we accept it, believing that this destiny will bring something good in the future.”
