Yusuf To Okpebholo : Hasten Compensation For Hausa Victims Killed In Uromi

KANO  – Amid rising discontent in Kano over apparent slow pace of compensation procedures for Kano travelling hunter that were killed in Uromi, Edo state, last March, the Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has tasked his Edo state counterpart,  Senator Monday Okpebholo to hasten the processes.
Abba Kabir Yusuf who spoke in Abuja where he participated in the final right of another set of Kano travellers that grousomely murdered by yet to be identified mob in Benue, said “justice,  fairness is key in maintaining national peace, and unity.”
Yusuf plea to Edo state government came on the heels of rising tensions in Kano over apparent none commitment to pay compensation as promised during his visit to ancestral home the slain hunters by the Edo state governor Senator Monday Okpebholo barely 90 after the historic visit.
Senator Monday Okpebholo had during the visit pledged to pay full compensation to the family of Uromi 16.
Governor Okpebholo, who was accompanied by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other high-ranking dignitaries to Torankawa village  in Bunkure Local Government Area said “I’ll pay full compensation to families of victims”
In addition the Edo state governor further pledged to support the bereaved families with cash and food donations.
While lamenting the killings of the innocent victims, Okpebholo, assured that “We will ensure that justice is served on those responsible for this heinous act”.
A statement by Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the spokesman of the governor quoted his Principal to have stressed the importance of “justice, fairness, and accountability in maintaining national peace and unity.”
The statement by Mr. Dawakin Tofa that was made available to Reporters in Kano named Jamilu Ahmad and Barhana Suleiman all of Unguwa Uku quarters of Kano metropolis as the latest victims of mob attacks in Benue state.
He revealed that the two victims have been buried at Gudu Cemetery in Abuja with Governor Yusuf and NSA Ribadu personally escorting the remains to their final resting abode.
