Namadi Assures New FUD VC of Open-Door Support

KANO – The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, has assured the new Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse (FUD), Ahmad Muhammad Gumel, of his administration’s full backing and an open-door policy as he assumes office.
Governor Namadi gave the assurance during a dinner organized in honour of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, stating that the state government stands ready to provide assistance to enable the new VC succeed in his assignment.
He noted that Professor Gumel emerged first among 21 candidates interviewed for the position, describing his appointment as merit-based and well-deserved. The governor expressed confidence that the new Vice-Chancellor would justify the trust reposed in him, citing his humility, sincerity, and proven capacity to deliver.
Namadi said he was particularly impressed by Professor Gumel’s work ethic during his role in overseeing the acquisition and transition of Khadija University by the Jigawa State Government, adding that such experience would be valuable in advancing FUD’s growth and development.
The governor congratulated the university community on the appointment, assuring them that his administration would continue to support the institution in achieving its academic and infrastructural goals.
He also used the occasion to commend the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, for what he described as a successful tenure marked by notable expansion of physical infrastructure. According to him, the achievements recorded during the period reflect strong leadership and dedication to service.
In his remarks, Professor Abdulkarim thanked the Jigawa State Government, particularly Governor Namadi, for the goodwill and support he enjoyed throughout his tenure, noting that the backing was instrumental to his administration’s successes.
