KEDCO Rolls Out Customer-First Digital Payment Solution

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO – Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), on Friday rolled out a new ATM-enabled self-service payment kiosk as part of efforts to prioritise customer convenience, reduce billing stress, and block revenue leakages across its franchise.

Speaking at the official commissioning of the digital payment kiosk on Friday, the Managing Director of KEDCO, Mr. Abubakar Shuaibu Jimeta, described the initiative as a major step in the company’s customer-first strategy and ongoing digitisation drive.

Jimeta explained that
the new platform was introduced to make electricity bill payments easier and more accessible for customers.

He said “Whatever it is that we do in KEDCO, whatever strategy we come up with, or whatever partnership we go into, the first thing that will be on our minds is the customer”.

“How does this affect the customer? How effective would it be for the customer? How happy would this strategy make the customer at the end of the day? Once we focus on that and achieve it, then all other things fall into place.”

Jimeta explained that the ATM-enabled kiosk aligns with the company’s broader vision of integrating digital solutions into its operations in line with global best practices.

“We are bringing digitisation into our business. Change is constant, and it’s something we have to keep building on to create a better company,” he added.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Fucil Datatech Limited, a technology solutions firm focused on delivering scalable and secure digital systems.

Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of Fucil Datatech Limited, Mrs. Chioma Eugenia Iwuagwu, said the collaboration underscores her company’s mandate to deploy innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency while enhancing customer experience.

She noted that the payment kiosk is designed to deliver secure, seamless and efficient transactions, helping KEDCO strengthen its service delivery framework.

Jimeta further stated that KEDCO remains open to strategic partnerships that will reinforce its operations and position it as a world-class electricity distribution company, stressing that customer satisfaction will continue to guide its decisions and investments.
