By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO — The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council, has paid glowing tribute to veteran broadcaster and media executive, Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Getso, describing his death as a great loss to the journalism profession and Kano State.

In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, the Acting Chairman of the Council, Comrade Mustapha Gambo, expressed deep sympathy to the deceased’s family, friends and the people of Getso community in Gwarzo Local Government Area.

The statement, signed by the Council’s Secretary, Hauwa Suleiman Zahradeen, said the union received the news of Getso’s demise with profound sadness.

Gambo described the late broadcaster as a committed media professional whose contributions to public enlightenment and information dissemination left an enduring mark on the state’s media landscape.

“The late Adamu Getso was a versatile media executive who dedicated his career to the service of the people and the journalism profession. His impact on public enlightenment remains a reference point in the state,” he said.

The NUJ chairman noted that Getso played a significant role as a lead anchor of major political and developmental programmes during the first and second administrations of former Kano State Governor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

According to him, the deceased used his exceptional broadcasting skills to educate, inform and engage the public on government policies and societal issues, earning the respect of colleagues and audiences alike.

Gambo said the legacy of professionalism, dedication and service left behind by Getso would continue to inspire journalists and broadcasters across the state.

“The media fraternity and the people of Kano State have lost a true professional whose voice and commitment to public service will be sorely missed,” he added.

The union prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
