Kano and More Dividends of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda on Infrastructural Development.
By Shehu Mustapha Chaji
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent approval of N46.39 billion for the rehabilitation of runways and taxiways at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) adds to the long list of infrastructural projects for the development of Kano in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Kano airport upgrade project includes the installation of Category II (CAT II) airfield lighting, which will enable aircraft to operate more safely during poor weather conditions such as heavy rain, haze, and low visibility. It will also improve operational safety, reduce flight delays, and enhance the capacity to handle more traffic. The reconstruction is expected to be completed within 24 weeks.
Also within the week, representatives of the Federal Government were in Kano to inform Kano State Governor Abba K. Yusuf that work is set to begin on the N1.05 trillion Kano Light Rail project approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Kano Light Rail project is the largest single-state project approved by President Tinubu. The rail project is expected to transform urban transportation in Kano, improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and stimulate economic activities across the state.
Also, the recently approved Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo, will begin admitting students this year to study in various fields of human endeavour. This will give thousands of our youths living within that axis of Kano, the Northwest, and Nigeria the opportunity to study modern science and technology at a very low cost. In addition, the newly established institution has created and continues to create thousands of formal and informal jobs.
Before the end of this year, people will be able to travel from Kano to Kaduna, or from Kaduna to Kano, by rail, all courtesy of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
There are so many ongoing construction works by the President Tinubu administration, ranging from roads and dams to other infrastructural developments in hospitals, higher institutions, housing, etc.
The people of Kano have no complaints about President Tinubu’s administration, as they are enjoying a double dose of the Renewed Hope Agenda: first, through infrastructural development, and second, through the large number of appointments into various offices in Federal Government agencies, etc.
As we approach the 2027 presidential election, the Kano APC leadership should request President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to approve the Greater Kano Water Supply Project in order to end the severe water shortage in Kano.
Kanawa will definitely show their appreciation to President Tinubu by massively voting for him once again, with no fewer than 2 million votes out of over 6 million registered voters in Kano.
