Kano Abuzz as Tinubu–Yusuf Portraits Revive APC Defection Talks
By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul
KANO – An imposing portrait of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu mounted side by side with that of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Coronation Hall of the Government House has sparked fresh political speculation across the state.
The portraits, prominently displayed on the rooftop outside the hall located in the northern wing of the seat of power, have become a public attraction for passersby along the adjoining major road.
The strategic placement and visibility of the portraits have generated widespread attention, with residents stopping to take photographs and debate their political significance.
Kano, a major political stronghold in northern Nigeria, has historically played a decisive role in national elections.
The unusual pairing of the president with a governor elected on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has further fueled conversations about a possible realignment in Kano’s political leadership.
Pundits agreed that the development has revived rumours of an imminent defection of Governor Yusuf to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in not too distant future.
Finenewsng.com observed that such speculation has been persistent in recent weeks, especially amid reports of behind-the-scenes engagements between key APC figures and political leaders in Kano.
However, Governor Yusuf and his media aides, have remained silent on the matter, declining to comment on the portraits or the interpretations being drawn from them.
