KANO – Kano NDC governorship candidate, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, on Monday unveiled Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

The announcement by Gwarzo during the NDC stakeholders meeting at the multi-billion mansion of the Kwankwaso’s is expected to spark fresh discussions within the state’s political circles.

Gwarzo, a prominent figure in Kano politics and a longtime ally of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, presented Mustapha Kwankwaso as his deputy in what some stakeholders at the meeting described as a significant move with implications for the future political direction of the state.

The choice of Mustapha, son of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is already attracting attention due to the influence of the Kwankwasiyya movement in Kano and beyond.

Although details surrounding the arrangement remain sketchy at the time of filing this report, supporters at the event reportedly welcomed the announcement, describing it as a step toward consolidating the political ideals associated with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
