KANO – Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Saturday distributed vocational tools and equipment to no fewer than 2,260 youths who successfully completed various vocational training programmes across the state.
The beneficiaries were trained in different skills at 26 vocational centres established to promote youth empowerment and self-reliance, and were trained in areas such as fish farming, poultry production, craftsmanship, crop cultivation, and livestock rearing.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development, describing skills acquisition as a critical tool for reducing unemployment and poverty.
He noted that the vocational centres had earlier been shut down, a situation that negatively affected young people seeking productive livelihoods, but his government revived the facilities to restore hope and opportunity for the youths.
Governor Yusuf further explained that the programme aligns with his broader economic and social development agenda, designed to equipping youths with practical skills, promoting entrepreneurship, and strengthening the state’s economy.
He urged the graduands to make good use of the opportunity, become self-employed, and serve as positive examples to other young people.
The governor expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly contribute to job creation and sustainable development across Kano State.
