KANO – Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is set to lead key party activities in Kano State, including the APC’s electronic registration of members and the planned reception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who is expected to formally defect to the party.
Ganduje returned to Nigeria from London in the early hours of Monday and is expected to proceed to Kano later in the day to begin the political engagements.
According to a statement signed by his Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba, Ganduje arrived in Abuja at about 5:30 a.m. aboard a British Airways flight after attending the graduation ceremony of his daughter, Fatima, at King’s College, London.
Garba said Fatima, who is married to Idris Ajimobi, son of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, graduated on Thursday with a Master’s degree from the prestigious institution.
He disclosed that the former Kano State governor would play a prominent role in the APC’s electronic membership registration exercise in the state, describing it as a programme Ganduje initiated during his tenure as national chairman of the party.
“Dr. Ganduje is scheduled to actively participate in the APC electronic registration of members, a programme he personally initiated while serving as national chairman of the party,” Garba said.
The statement further revealed that Ganduje is also expected to be central to activities surrounding the planned reception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the APC.
“He will also play a leading role in the activities lined up for the formal reception of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who is set to defect to the APC,” Garba stated.
Garba added that the engagements are part of broader efforts to strengthen party structures and consolidate recent political realignments in Kano State, noting that Ganduje’s involvement is aimed at ensuring cohesion and effective mobilisation within the party.
