Galadima’s Attacks on Kano Govt Driven by Personal Grievances — Waiya

KANO ——The Kano State Government has said recent attacks by Sen. Kwankwaso’s ally, Buba Galadima against Gov. Yusuf’s administration are driven by personal grievances following his removal as Chairman of the Board of Kano State Polytechnic.
The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made the claim during a press briefing in Kano, where he dismissed Galadima’s allegations of opposition suppression as “baseless and malicious.”
Waiya said, the criticism directed at Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Kano State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) was politically contrived and lacked factual foundation.
“It is evident that his current media campaign is driven by bitterness, personal grievance, and the loss of official privilege rather than any genuine concern for democracy,” Waiya said.
He explained that Galadima’s removal from the Polytechnic board was based strictly on administrative considerations related to performance and competence, not political differences.
The commissioner also rejected claims that the state government had instructed security agencies to intimidate opposition figures.
“Security agencies operate within the ambit of the law, and any suggestion that the government manipulates them is incorrect and deliberately deceptive,” he stated.
Waiya maintained that the Yusuf administration remains committed to protecting freedom of expression but warned that such freedom does not extend to defamation or the spread of misinformation.
He added that opposition actors continue to operate freely in Kano, insisting that the government would not allow “deliberate falsehood capable of undermining public order” to go unchecked.
