KANO – The Forum of Former and Serving Members of the Kano State House of Assembly has welcomed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and 22 state lawmakers into the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the development as one of the best things to happen to Kano State in recent times.
In a statement issued and signed on behalf of the forum by its Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Babangida Sulaiman, the group said the entry of Governor Yusuf and the serving and former legislators, including the Speaker, would positively transform the political landscape of the state.
According to the statement, the forum believes that the defection of the governor and the lawmakers to the ruling party would strengthen Kano State’s relationship with the Federal Government and attract more dividends of democracy to the people.
“With the coming of the Governor and indeed his amiable members of the State House of Assembly to the APC, Kano State will now enjoy stronger ties with the Federal Government, mutual respect, and increased democratic dividends,” the statement read.
Hon. Sulaiman added that Governor Yusuf is widely known for his commitment, fear of God, and transformational vision for Kano State, qualities which, he noted, align with the expectations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from governors across the country.
Also speaking, Yusuf Babangida Dawodawo said that party leaders, including former APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Kano State APC Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, have all urged party members to accept Governor Yusuf and the lawmakers as long-standing members of the APC family.
He called on APC supporters and members across the state to give full support to the Kano State Government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the State House of Assembly, urging them to place the interest of Kano State above all other considerations.
The forum chairman reaffirmed the group’s total support and loyalty to the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, stressing that collective support is essential to making Kano State greater and more prosperous.
