Dungurawa Labels Sen. Hanga ‘Dry Wood,’ Says He Benefits No One

KANO — The Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hashim Suleiman Dungurawa, last night launched a blistering attack on Senator Rufai Sani Hanga, describing the lawmaker as “a dry piece of wood” who, according to him, has been of no benefit to anyone.

Dungurawa made the remarks while speaking during a political engagement, where he criticised the senator’s contributions and questioned his relevance within the political landscape.

Referring to Hanga with a Hausa metaphor, the NNPP chairman said, “Senator Hanga is like a dry piece of wood—he benefits no one.” He did not immediately elaborate on the specific basis for the assertion.

In a further swipe, Dungurawa alleged that Hanga once handed over his official vehicle to him during his tenure as party chairman, claiming the vehicle was already in a deplorable condition.

“He even gave me his vehicle when I was the party chairman, but the engine had already packed up,” Dungurawa alleged.

The remarks are the latest in a series of verbal exchanges involving political actors in Kano amid shifting alliances and growing tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, Senator Rufai Sani Hanga had not publicly responded to the allegations.
