Civil Servernts Rejoices With Gov Yusuf Over NLC Award

KANO (Kano,North West Nigeria) – The Kano State Civil Service on Wednesday  rejoiced with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on his recognition as the Best Labour-Friendly Governor by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kano State Branch.
This was conveyed in a congratulatory message to the Governor, signed by the Kano State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa.
According to the Head of Service, the prestigious award highlights the Governor’s firm commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state.
He noted that Governor Yusuf’s administration has introduced transformative measures to promote job security, dignity, and improved working conditions for civil servants.
Musa enumerated some of the key initiatives introduced by the administration in the state including the upward review of monthly pensions from ₦5,000 to ₦20,000 thereby significantly enhancing the livelihoods of retirees, absorption of 10,000 previously recruited workers which reinforced employment stability and recruitment of additional medical officers, nurses, teachers, and security personnel to strengthened essential public services.
In a further demonstration of his dedication to workers’ welfare, the Governor approved a ₦71,000 minimum wage, surpassing the federal benchmark of ₦70,000, and placement of  emphasis on competence and fairness in the merit-based appointment of permanent secretaries, free from political bias, the statement added.
Additionally, the administration has cleared gratuity arrears exceeding ₦16 billion, ensured the prompt payment of salaries and pensions and prioritized capacity development through comprehensive training and reforms for civil servants across all cadres.
The Head of Service further noted that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf remains resolute in his commitment to prioritizing civil servants’ welfare as a cornerstone for sustainable development and effective governance.
He then  urged all civil servants to remain steadfast in their dedication to service as their contributions are invaluable to the continued growth and prosperity of Kano State.
