No Plan to Remove Deputy Governor  – Kano Assembly
By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul
KANO  –  The Kano State House of Assembly on Saturday dismissed reports suggesting an attempt to impeach the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
The Kano Lawmakers described the claims as “baseless and misleading”, emphasizing that there is no such plan underway.
The spokesperson to the Speaker of the House, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai while addressing journalists in Kano declared that the reports circulating in some media outlets were intended to create unnecessary tension in the state.
Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai said, “There is absolutely no motion or initiative within the House to remove the Deputy Governor”.
“These reports are false and should be disregarded by the public. The Deputy Governor continues to serve in his capacity with full support from the House.”
Shawai further urged members of the public and the press to verify information before sharing it, stressing the importance of accurate reporting in maintaining political stability in the state.
The spokesperson added that the House remains focused on legislative duties and oversight functions rather than engaging in speculative political manoeuvres. “Our priority is good governance and serving the people of Kano, not circulating rumours,” he explained.
Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the Deputy Governor, has not publicly commented on the impeachment claims, but insiders within the state government confirmed that he remains actively involved in government programs and engagements.
Last week, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya last sparked controversy when during interview sessions with local Radio station called on the Deputy governor to resign for not towing his principal way to All Progressives Congress.
A Political commentator in the city who spoke with finenewsng.com on condition of anonymity,  described the denial as a ‘strategic move to calm tensions’, noting that ‘false reports of political crises can often spread quickly and cause unnecessary unrest among the populace.’
