Alfindiki Tells Gov Yusuf: I Won’t Back Down From Activism Over ‘Peanuts’

By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul

KANO –Faizu Alfindiki, the immediate past Chairman of Kano Municipal Council, on Thursday
declared that he will not retreat from political activism against the Kano State Government, despite what he described as deliberate attempts to intimidate him over peanuts.

Alfindi who spoke from a defiant stance, said pressure from government circles has only strengthened his resolve to remain active in the political space.

In his words, “I won’t chicken out of my activism so long the engagement is lawful and protected under constitutional democracy.”

He said that the state government under the leadership of Abba Kabir Yusuf considers him a political threat, a perception he believes explains its refusal to settle his entitlements.

According to him, officials have openly indicated that his gratuity will not be paid by the current administration. “They said government will not pay my gratuity as former chairman and they expect the next government to pay”.

Alfindiki argued that such a position reveals discomfort within the government over his growing political influence. “The government sees me as a threat,” he said, adding that official conduct shows authorities are disturbed by activism that challenges power and demands accountability.

Alfindiki explained clarify that his opposition to the current administration is not rooted in bitterness or personal hostility.

According to him “My opposition wasn’t born out of hatred, rather it’s a stance that is driven by a commitment to telling truth to power.

He assured his supporters that intimidation would not force him to abandon what he described as a principled cause. “I won’t be intimidated to abandon a just cause,” he declared.

Looking ahead, Alfindiki expressed confidence in a political shift in Kano State, predicting victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election. “Political permutations indicate that the APC will win Kano in the next election,” he said.
