KANO —- The Kano State Government has unveiled plans to construct multi agencies
Security Plazas at the newly completed Dan’Agundi and Tal’udu flyovers in Kano metropolis.
Similarly, a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras will be installed at the Dan’Agundi Bridge as part of efforts to strengthen public safety and protect critical infrastructure.
The Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Marwan Ahmed Aminu, told newsmen in Kano on Monday that the initiative reflects the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to complementing infrastructure development with robust security measures.
Engr. Marwan Ahmed Aminu explained that the Security Plazas will be established immediately after the completion of the two flyover projects to ensure the facilities are adequately protected and commuters can use them in a secure environment.
“After completing the Dan’Agundi and Tal’udu flyovers, the government approved the construction of Security Plazas at the two locations to provide adequate security for road users and safeguard these important public assets,” Aminu said.
He explained that the plazas would serve as operational centres for security agencies rather than conventional buildings, bringing personnel from multiple agencies under a unified framework to improve coordination and emergency response.
“The Security Plaza will not just be a structure; it will function as a security operations centre where personnel from various security agencies will work together under one coordinated system,” he added.
The commissioner said the facilities would accommodate officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), the Hisbah Board, vigilante groups, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and other relevant security organisations.
Aminu further revealed that CCTV surveillance cameras would be installed at the Dan’Agundi Bridge to enable round-the-clock monitoring of activities in and around the facility.
“The CCTV system will help security agencies monitor movements at all times, prevent criminal activities, facilitate swift emergency response, and strengthen public safety around the bridge,” he said.
He noted that the initiative underscores the state’s determination not only to deliver landmark infrastructure but also to ensure its long-term sustainability through effective security arrangements.
According to him, the government remains focused on protecting lives and property while providing a safer and more efficient transportation network for residents across Kano State.
