Disagreements, Shifting Alliances Normal in Democracy – Kano Special Advisers
By Ahmad Tijjani Abdul
KANO   – The Kano Special Advisers’ Forum, on Saturday described disagreements and shifting political alliances as normal features of a democratic system.
The Forum in a statement signed by Dr. Idris Salisu Rogo, the Secretary of the Forum that was made available to journalists in Kano enjoined political actors and the public to manage such differences with maturity and restraint.
Idris Salisu Rogo said, “politics is inherently dynamic, with varying opinions, alignments, and perspectives being a natural part of a democratic society.”
The Forum, however cautioned that unguarded remarks and hostile conduct could undermine public trust, as it stressed that “the use of inflammatory language, personal attacks, threats, or disclosing private communications only erodes public trust and diverts attention from governance.”
The advisers also reminded the public that Kano State has a long-standing reputation for political awareness and civility. “Kano State boasts a commendable history of political awareness and civility that we must uphold,” the statement added.
The Forum appealed to political actors, appointees, party members, supporters and residents to exercise restraint at what it described as a critical moment, calling for “mutual respect, maturity, decorum, and a shared commitment to the peace and progress of Kano State.”
The statement reaffirmed the authority of the state’s chief executive, noting that “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, is the leader of the government and holds ultimate authority over political direction and decision-making.”
The Forum further pledged its loyalty to the governor, declaring its “unwavering loyalty and alignment with any political decisions made by His Excellency that serve the interests of Kano State and its citizens.”
The advisers also expressed support for the administration’s development agenda, citing ongoing efforts in governance, infrastructure and social welfare. According to the statement, the progress recorded “deserves our collective protection and consolidation.”.
