KANO  –  Eagle eye Operatives of the Kano Command, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Tuesday arrested a 37  year old suspect, in connection with recovery of no fewer than 8,000 bottles of Akuskura (a herbal mixture of narcotics) and 48 blocks of Cannabis sativa.
Briefing newsmen over the success, the local Public Relations Officer National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari named Ali Muhammad, as the 37-year-old suspect arrested in connection with the exhibit.
Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari revealed that drug courier was intercepted around Gadar Tamburawa, Zaria – Kano Road, during a stop and search operations.
He said “The trailer was fully loaded with Tricycle (Keke Napep), and the exhibit was concealed between the Keke Napep units and beneath the trailer where a wooden cover had been constructed to hide the items.
“NDLEA operatives discovered the concealment through their diligence and commitment.” He stated.
He noted that all exhibits and the suspect are now in NDLEA custody pending further investigation and laboratory analysis to confirm the nature of the substances and determine the full scope of the operation.
The Commander, Kano State Strategic Command, ACGN AI Ahmad appreciates the continued support of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brg Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), which enables frontline commands to act decisively.
According to the statement the NDLEA urges the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious consignments or activity to the nearest NDLEA office or other law enforcement agency.
