21 Travelers Rescued in Kogi, Two Soldiers Killed in Operation

KANO  – Twenty-one passengers were rescued unharmed on Thursday after armed bandits launched coordinated attacks on multiple vehicles along major highways in Kogi State.

The attacks reportedly occurred around the Oshokoshoko and Obajana axis, where several vehicles were ambushed by gunmen.

The dastardly act triggered panic among commuters as the bandits attempted to abduct travellers and disrupt movement along the busy route.

Security personnel from a joint task force swiftly mobilised to the scene, engaging the attackers and securing the area. Their timely response enabled the safe evacuation of all 21 passengers caught in the crossfire.

However, authorities confirmed that two members of the security team lost their lives during the rescue effort. The fallen personnel were praised for their bravery and sacrifice in the line of duty.

Officials have commended the joint troops for their extraordinary courage, noting that their actions ensured the safe recovery of all passengers.

Security operations have since been intensified in the affected corridors to prevent further attacks and restore public confidence.
